Programme Features

We are now living in online world – shop online, work online and socialize online. Meanwhile, our online activities generate a large amount of data that might be held by government bodies or commercial companies. If the information systems employed by these bodies are not secure, our data may fall into the wrong hands where it might be exploited to cause not only financial harm but also threaten our safety. This is why cyber security becomes a very important issue nowadays which everyone should be aware of.

BA (Hons) Business Studies (BABS) offers wide and in-depth knowledge, understanding and skills of effectively running for profit and not for profit organisation in fast changing global business world. BA (Hons) Business Studies is designed to enable the student to develop a critical understanding of ethical principles and practice, and an awareness of effective management principles set in the many contexts in which businesses operate and also captures the essence of entrepreneurship.

The course encourages students to develop the skills and competencies of future managers. To do this, students should be capable of making management decisions at both a strategic and at a tactical level, emphasising the complexity and dynamics of business and management and taking cognisance of the integrative nature of the various factors which impinge upon management decisions.

UWL being a career university, the BABS course is designed for future employability or entrepreneurship. The qualified students will be able to enter the world of business with a breadth of knowledge that should provide them with greater confidence and understanding aptitude for business world.

Non-means-tested Subsidy Scheme for Self-financing Undergraduate Studies in Hong Kong (NMTSS)

Students who are eligible for the Non-means-tested Subsidy Scheme for Self-financing Undergraduate Studies in Hong Kong (NMTSS) will be provided with an annual subsidy up to HK34,390 in the 2024/25 academic year. Eligible students enrolling in the relevant programmes only need to pay the tuition fee net of subsidy. For details, please visit www.cspe.edu.hk/nmtss.

Eligibility for NMTSS:

From the 2024/25 academic year onwards, the annual subsidy for studies is applicable to all Hong Kong students who are enrolled in full-time locally accredited local and non-local self-financing undergraduate (including top-up degree) programmes offered by eligible institutions.

The following students are not eligible for the subsidy :

  1. Non-local students.
  2. Students who already possessed a degree at the Bachelor’s level or above.
  3. Students who are enrolling in any subsidised undergraduate or sub-degree programmes (such as University Grants Committee-funded programmes, subvented programmes of the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts, and subsidised places of the designated programmes under SSSDP).

 

Financial Assistance Scheme for Post-secondary Students (FASP)

FASP provides means-tested financial assistance to needy full-time students pursuing locally-accredited, self-financing post-secondary education programmes at the level of associate degree, higher diploma or degree. The scheme aims to provide financial assistance to needy students so that no eligible students will be denied access to post-secondary education because of lack of means.

The Non-means-tested Loan Scheme for Post-secondary Students (NLSPS)

The NLSPS is used to complement the Financial Assistance Scheme for Post-secondary Students (FASP) to provide loan(s) to eligible students to settle tuition fees of locally-accredited, self-financing full-time post-secondary education programmes at the level of associate degree, higher diploma or degree

Self-financing post-secondary scholarship scheme (SPSS)

To promote the development of the self-financing post-secondary sector, the Self-financing Post-secondary Scholarship Scheme (SPSS) is set up under the Self-financing Post-secondary Education Fund to offer scholarships and awards to students pursuing full-time locally-accredited self-financing sub-degree or bachelor's degree (including top-up degree) programmes at non-profit-making education institutions.

Year 1 (Level 4) Entry

Minimum Admission Requirements

Students meeting the minimum requirement can submit an application for admission. The University of West London will make the final decision on the admissibility of the applicant.

  • UWL will consider, as a minimum entry requirement for both the home course and the Hong Kong course, total score of 15 in five HKDSE subjects, normally with English at Level 3 and Mathematics at Level 3, with none of the five subjects at Level 1.

    Each case will also be assessed individually.

    English Proficiency Requirement:
    HKDSE Level 3 or above in English Language.

  • Applicants aged 21 or above prior to the commencement of the programme, subject to the prior learning and experience requirements by UWL.

 

Special Entry

Other applicants not meeting the above requirements or with no formal qualifications will be considered on an individual basis taking into account their professional / work / life experiences and their ability to engage with and benefit from the course.

 

 

Year 3 (Level 6) Entry

  • Recognised Associate Degree / Higher Diploma from local education institutions; or
  • Equivalent qualifications

 

English Proficiency Requirement
